A LORRY caught fire yesterday evening on the A66 near Troutbeck.
The vehicle was reported and photographed while alight along the major route near Penrith at around 7pm.
The driver made it out of the vehicle without sustaining any serious injuries, it was later confirmed.
A county fire crew dealt with the HGV blaze while emergency worked to reopen the impacted section of the A66.
The route was closed in both directions between the A5091 and Lane Head Farm due to the fire.
Significant delays resulted from the incident, with the route reopening fully after 4am.
