SPURS will slug it out with fierce rivals Arsenal for the signature of Lyon's Hatem Ben Arfa after the player suggested a move could be on the cards.
Tottenham have already had a reported bid rejected, while the attacking midfielder has admitted holding talks with Arsenal.
And both clubs will have sat up and taken notice after Ben Arfa's latest comments fuelled speculation of a possible transfer with what sounded suspiciously like a farewell message to Lyon fans.
"Whatever happens, I would like to thank all the fans, who always supported me," he told reporters.
"But what is meant to happen, will happen."
The winger was named French Young Player of the Year for this season and his quick feet and clever movement have attracted attention from across Europe.
However with Arsenal ready to announce the signing of another of France's bright talents, Samir Nasri, the door could be left open for Spurs to pounce.
