A section of Walthamstow library is to be home to Romanian books after one migrant made it his mission to educate non-English speaking members of his community.
Mihai Nanu , a film-maker who lives in Tower Hamlets, said he was told by fellow Romanians that they were keen to use the library but were unable to access Romanian books.
Mr Nanu asked library staff if they would stock the books if he could find somebody to supply them.
He then wrote an open letter appealing to the people of Romania, which was picked up by a newspaper.
Two days later 200 books were delivered.
The books will be available to rent in one month.
