A MOSQUE will feed more people in need this Ramadan thanks to a supermarket’s “generous” food donation.
Leytonstone’s Tesco Extra marked the start of Ramadan today (June 6) by giving Faizan-e- Islam Mosque in Walthamstow £850 worth of food.
The mosque works with local Muslim charities in the area, supplying hot meals and food parcels to some of the community’s most vulnerable people.
Chapatti flour, rice and sunflower oil were among the food donated to the mosque by a Tesco delivery van on Saturday (June 4).
The supermarket’s nationwide donation saw 20 mosques across London, Birmingham, Bradford and Leicester receive £20,000 of its food.
Tesco spokesperson, Audrey Humes said: “As Ramadan is a time associated with generosity and giving, we’re delighted to have donated food to Faizan-e- Islam in Waltham Forest and hope it will go towards supporting those in need this Ramadan.”
