TRAVELLERS have illegally moved onto Thames Water land behind residential roads.
In the dead of night (November 2), those living in Lower Hall Lane, in Chingford, witnessed a group of travellers storm gates onto land owned by Thames Water.
The group, which is made up of nearly ten motorhomes and caravans are still occupying the land, and have locked the gates behind them.
Residents on Russell Road, which runs alongside the land, are devastated by the sudden illegal encampment.
One resident in Russell Road, who does not want to be named for "fear of reprisals", is "beside herself with worry about security, mess and abuse".
Thames Water has been contacted for comment.
