‘EXEPTIONAL’ Muslims have been awarded for their services to the community.
Waltham Forest Council of Mosques held its annual Excellence Awards to honour citizens of the borough.
The event included entertainment by Islamic comedian Jeff Mirza and artist Abid Malik.
Church of England Bishop of Barking Peter Hill and French Rabbi Rene Pfertzel of the Liberal Jewish Synagogue in St John’s Wood were also in attendance.
The winners are as follows:
Education Award - Nora Gaoua, Entrepreneur/Business Award - Mohammed Mukthar Hussain, Sports Achievement Award - Mohammed Umair Qasmi, Young Hafiz Award - Imaan Hussain, Sister of the Year Award - Fatima Khasimi and Special Award - Kausar Sheikh.
The ceremony took place on Wednesday, March 8, at Goshia Hall in Grove Road, Walthamstow.
Waltham Forest Council of Mosques is made up of 10 Islamic institutions across the borough.
