THE LOUGHTON Festival is in its third week and in full swing.

Here is what is coming up over the next seven days.

Wednesday, May 9, 8pm: Nicholas Hagger 'My World View'

A global academic who has held lecturing posts at the universities of Baghdad, Tokyo and Libya and tutored Emperor Hirohito's second son, Hagger will speak about his experience of the UK’s global involvement during the Cold War before we joined Europe, and the prospect of a return to that global outlook today.

Saturday, May 12, 11am: Oral History: Sharing Stories David Stevenson and Maurice Day will lead a session in reminiscence, with attendees asked to look back and recall yesteryear.

Saturday, May 12, 12pm: Embers the Dragon Comes to Loughton – Family Fun Day

Fresh from a tour of Epping Forest's primary schools, Embers the Dragon will bring his emotional wellbeing show to the family fun day. Also includes inflatables, games, art and craft, face painting and much more.

The afternoon will also include the Red Balloon Prison Break event where teams will have three hours to travel as far, high or deep as possible from Loughton to win amazing prizes. Saturday May 12, 1.30pm: Tower Tours of the St John’s Church Tower, Loughton

Climb the Tower and learn a little about the art of bell ringing. Good views guaranteed. Adults and children aged eight and over only. Ability to climb the 37 stone spiral steps to the bell tower is required.

Saturday, May 12, 2pm:Neighbourhood Watch and Essex Police Safety Session A free session for anyone wishing to know more about avoiding being a victim of crime or helping older people stay safe. Topics covered will include street robbery, theft from and of vehicles, burglary, scams and any topic you wish to raise.

Sunday, May 13, 11am: Family Discovery Walks

Activity walks around High Beach with minibeast hunting, birdwatching, craft activities for children, history trail and more.

Sunday 13 May, 10am: HOWZAT!

Featuring Gina Morris and her Insanity workout and throughout the day, a women's softball cricket. Come along and have a go.
