A van has been destroyed after being engulfed in flames earlier today.
The van caught fire on the A406 north circular road southbound at the junction of Mill House Roundabout, Ilford, this afternoon (January 7).
Images show the charred remains of the vehicle on the side of the road.
London Fire Brigade were called to the fire at 12.34pm; the blaze was under control by 12.58pm.
Two of three lanes were closed as emergency services dealt with the fire casing long delays with northbound traffic queuing back to Barking.
Barking and Dagenham MPS tweeted: “There are long delays on the A406 southbound just before the Barking junction with the A124. This is owing to a vehicle fire. The fire has now been put out and the vehicle moved to the side of the road.”
All lanes have since been reopened following the clearance of the vehicle.
Transport for London says residual southbound traffic remains “slow” with tailbacks to Redbridge.
