The body of a man discovered near a lake this morning is being treated as an unexplained death, police said.
Paramedics and police were called to Hollow Pond near Wanstead at around 8.30am (February 15).
An "unresponsive" man was found near a lake but he was declared dead at the scene by medics.
The Met Police said officers are currently treating the man's death as "unexplained" and officers are trying to trace his relatives.
A spokesman for the force said: "A body has been found in a park in Waltham Forest. Officers were called at 8:32am on Tuesday, February 15, 2022, to a park on Snaresbrook Road, E11.
"An unresponsive man was found near a lake in the park. The London Ambulance Service attended and the man was pronounced dead at the scene. Enquiries are underway to inform next of kin.
"A forensic scene is currently in place. The death is being treated as unexplained."
A spokesman for the London Ambulance Service added: "We were called at 8.27am today (February 15) to reports of an incident on Snaresbrook Road, E11.
"We sent an ambulance crew, a medic in a car, and an incident response officer. Sadly, a person had died at the scene."
