A WOMAN was killed in a road accident while crossing the road.
Ruth Ahmed, from Leytonstone, was crossing Bull Lane, Enfield, when she was fatally struck by a car.
Police have arrested the driver of the blue Peugeot three door saloon.
The woman failed to stop but returned ten minutes later, to be greeted by officers.
Police are now investigating the circumstances of the death of the woman, who was killed outside North Middlesex Hospital on Tuesday at about 8.25pm.
The driver has since been bailed to return to an east London police station pending further enquires.
Members of the public called police who arrived to find the woman, believed to be in her 40s, on the carriageway in Bull Lane, Enfield.
A post mortem took place at Hornsey mortuary at 3pm yesterday, and gave the cause of death as multiple injuries.
An inquest will open and adjourn at Hornsey Coroners Court on Wednesday.
