A LORRY carrying a digger and a dumper truck has crashed into a railway bridge.
It shed its load, nearly hitting a nearby cafe at the corner of Hainault Road and Midland Road, as it reversed into a building site.
Eyewitness Simon Capon, 44, who works at Aaron Tyres in Midland Road, said: "The lorry nearly lifted the bridge off the ground.
"I was talking to the guy in the cafe and he said he had to make the lorry driver back up because it was going to come through his window.
"It felt like the bridge was going to fall down.
"If I was a bit older, I think I would have had a heart attack."
A spokesman for Transport for London confirmed services were suspended on the Gospel Oak to Barking line while an engineer determined whether it was safe to use the bridge.
Normal service has now resumed.
No one was injured but the road was closed following the accident, which took place at about 10.20am today (Friday).
