A RADICAL muslim cleric who vowed to lead a protest against the war in Afghanistan in the middle of Wootton Bassett has come face-to-face with a dead serviceman's father in a TV debate.

Former lawyer, Anjem Choudary, of Ilford, caused outrage when he said he would organise a demonstration against the conflict during the next few weeks in the Wiltshire town - where the bodies of many fallen British servicemen and women are repatriated.

The level of anger among families of fallen servicemen became clear when the 42-year-old leader of the group Islam4UK - and former member of anti-semetic group al-Muhajiroun - debated his pledge on ITV News last night (Monday) with Alun Hicks, whose son David was killed in the conflict.

Mr Hicks said he did not consider Mr Choudary British if he did not support the UK's troops and told him to protest through Parliament, not in front of grieving families at Wootton Bassett.
