PLANS for a secondary school to build a new block to accommodate an extra 400 pupils have been approved.
The council's Regulatory Committee approved the plans for the expansion of Woodbridge High School in St Barnabas Road, Woodford Green, on Monday (June 25).
The new block will be part two-storey and part-three storey and will house the school’s art, drama, history, music and ICT departments.
Cllr Gwyneth Deakins, who lives near the school, spoke as a member of the public against the plans during the meeting.
She said: "Transport for London felt they needed more detail. There aren't regular bus services and people already feel that buses are too crowded during peak times.
"It has not been said if the extra students will arrive by bus, car or foot."
But Chairman of the meeting, Cllr Michael Stark, said it will be up to the transport authorities to provide adequate transport.
The block will also provide an additional 21 teaching jobs for the school.
