A vigil and protest this evening will mark the death of the first cyclist in London this year.
The Stop Killing Cyclists group will hold the vigil outside Redbridge Town Hall at 6pm with candles and placards.
A 52-year-old man was killed in a collision with a car on the junction of High Road, Woodford Green, and Forest Approach at 1.30pm on Sunday.
A female cyclist is fighting for her life after a crash on the Green Man roundabout in South Woodford earlier today.
Last year four cyslists were killed on Redbridge roads and 89 seriously injured.
Stop Killing Cyclists Co-founder Donnachadh McCarthy said: “Redbridge Council needs to immediately protect its pedestrians and cyclists by introducing a safe, borough wide 20mph zone and to invest with the Mayor in London in a comprehensive borough wide segregated cycle network within 5 years.
“We want an end to the killing and maiming on Redbridge’s streets.”
