A new Sainsbury’s Local could move into premises previously occupied by Barclays Bank in Wanstead High Street.
The Barclays branch closed on June 20 this year and a Sainsbury’s spokesperson confirmed the company is ‘in discussions to move into the site’.
The typical opening hours of Sainsbury’s Local are 7am-11pm, and they should bring between 20-25 jobs for local people.
On a national level Sainsbury’s pledged to open two new convenience stores each week during 2013/14 and has opened 73 so far this year.
