MORE than a hundred people turned out for an event to encourage them to help protect the safety and security of their area this weekend.
The Redbridge Neighbourhood Watch Association manned a stall on Christchurch Green in Wanstead on Saturday (November 13) to encourage people to join existing groups or start their own.
Members handed out free hot drinks and food, as well as crime prevention advice to help people keep themselves, their possessions and their homes safe.
The Wanstead stall follows a string of similar events across Redbridge, and organiser Wilson Chowdhry said there was more interest among local people about setting up a group than anywhere else they had visited in the borough.
