A LOCAL church will welcome back an old face for an organ recital to celebrate its centenary year.
Alan Thurlow was Master of Music at St Barnabas Church in Woodford Green until 1973.
He went on to work at both Durham Cathedral and Chichester Cathedral before retiring in 2008.
He will return to the church on Snakes Lane East, to give an organ recital.
Current St Barnabas Master of Music, Ray Chandler, said: “Alan started out as a choir boy at St Barnabas and has a great affinity with the church.
“It will be a pleasure to welcome him to help celebrate our 100th anniversary.”
The recital takes place on October 8 at 7.30pm. Entrance is free but there will be a collection for the church.
