Leyton Orient produced a very encouraging second-half display as they started their pre-season campaign by thrashing Chelmsford City 7-0.
The first period was a forgettable affair but the O's came to life after the restart as they eased to victory over the Conference South side.
Three goals in the space of just four minutes ensured Orient got off to a winning start. Shaun Batt celebrated his permanent signing by netting twice before Kevin Lisbie fired home from close range.
Orient made it 4-0 when Dean Cox struck a low effort which cannoned in off the post. There was still time for French trialist Yohann Lasimant to net a stunning strike for their fifth goal.
Lasimant netted another stunning effort before Lisbie rounded off a comprehensive win for the O's.
Russell Slade fielded two French trialists in the O's side for the trip to Chelmsford City. Jack Sherratt was handed his first start for the club after winning last year's Samsung Win a Pro competition.
David Mooney partnered Bertrand in attack while youngster Harrison Georgiou got a chance to play in the midfield.
There was very little to talk about in the opening stages but striker Mooney hit the post, although his effort would not have counted due to an offside flag.
The hosts almost took the lead just before the break but Jamie Jones pulled off an excellent save with his feet to keep the score level.
Orient boss Slade fielded a completely different team in the second half which featured debutant keeper Jake Larkins, trialist attacker Lasimant and new signing Batt.
The O's made a much brighter start to the second period and former Charlton striker Lisbie forced the keeper into a couple of saves.
Romain Vincelot went even closer but his header was tipped over the crossbar.
But the visitors' pressure was rewarded when former Millwall striker Batt fired a low effort into the net.
Orient doubled their lead within a couple of minutes as Batt again finished from close range.
The O's were looking very sharp and quickly netted a third after Lasimant's thumping strike hit the post and Lisbie tucked away the rebound.
Orient added a fourth goal with 20 minutes remaining when midfielder Cox fired in a shot which went in off the far post.
The visitors were running riot and scored the goal of the night when Lasimant marked an impressive showing with a stunning long-range strike.
Orient rounded off the scoring with another goal from the exciting Lasimant and a late effort from Lisbie.
