The Guardian Series understands the 12 players out of contract at Leyton Orient have been informed they will not be offered new terms, leaving just 12 senior players at the club.
Football League rules state clubs who have reached the end of their season must inform players of their intention to offer a new contract by the third Saturday in May, which was Saturday 16.
It is understood the twelve senior players who were out of contract at Brisbane Road were informed by letter they would not be retained.
That means Marvin Bartley, Shaun Batt, Scott Cuthbert, Chris Dagnall, Andrea Dossena, Harry Lee, Kevin Lisbie, David Mooney, Elliot Omozusi, Gianvito Plasmati, Gary Sawyer and Josh Wright will all depart.
The managerless O's are therefore left with 12 senior players and young professionals Charlie Grainger and Scott Kashket.
And with the O’s understood to be under a transfer embargo for failing to file their 2013/14 accounts on time, whoever replaces Fabio Liverani as manager may be unable to replace those who have left.

Dagnall’s 11 goals made him Orient’s top scorer last term and his impressive displays saw him claim the club's Star Man award.
Joining the former Barnsley forward in departing is veteran forward Lisbie, sent out on loan to Stevenage towards the end of the season and fellow hitman Mooney – who has netted 30 league goals in the last two seasons.
Defender Cuthbert has been with Orient for four years and made over 100 appearances, whilst former Plymouth Argyle defender Sawyer has been on the books at Brisbane Road since 2012.
Batt and Bartley both made permanent switches after previously spending time on loan, joining in the summer of 2013 and January last year respectively. Neither have been regulars this term, though.
Italian pair Dossena and Plasmati arrived on one-year contracts this season, whilst Wright returned to the club on a permanent basis in January having twice been on loan previously.
