Leyton Orient brushed aside Conference outfit Woking in their latest friendly as they eased to a 4-0 win this evening.
Ian Hendon’s side took an early lead when summer signing Ollie Palmer scored against his former club. Jay Simpson quickly found the net to make it 2-0. Scott Kashket added the third goal within the first 20 minutes before Simpson grabbed his second of the night on the stroke of half time.
The O’s handed first appearances to centre-back Alan Dunne and goalkeeper Alex Cisak after joining the club yesterday. Former Motherwell left-back Zaine Francis-Angol was handed a trial alongside versatile defender Jack Parkinson.
Orient opened the scoring after just six minutes when Blair Turgott’s cross was side-footed in via a deflection by former Woking striker Palmer.
The visitors went close through Simpson but his fierce strike flew just over the crossbar.
John Goddard had the first opportunity for the Cards but his strike went past Cisak’s far post.
It did not take long for the O’s to extend their lead as a defensive slip-up enabled Simpson to fire home.
Orient made it 3-0 when Turgott sent in a cross and Kashket got the final touch to steer the ball into the net.
The O’s added a fourth goal right on half time when Sean Clohessy set up Simpson and he blasted the ball past goalkeeper Jake Cole.
Former Blackburn defender Yann Songo’o was handed the chance to impress as a second-half trialist in place of Dunne. Bradley Pritchard and Sam Ling were also brought on for Sammy Moore and Clohessy.
Lloyd James fired in a speculative half-volley from outside the area in the second half but his effort flew narrowly high and wide.
Orient made another three changes as trialist goalkeeper Deniz Mehmet, Sandro Semedo and Freddie Moncur replaced Cisak, Palmer and James.
The closing stages of the match understandably lacked intensity as the League Two side coasted to victory.
The O's complete their pre-season schedule with games at Bishop's Stortford on Saturday and Southend United the following day.
