WEST Ham youngsters Freddie Sears and James Tomkins played their part as England moved to within a point of reaching this summer's U19 European Championship finals with a 1-0 win over Serbia last night.
Reading's James Henry grabbed the only goal of the game against a strong opponent.
It was the Young Lions' second victory in the four-team Elite Qualifying campaign in Borisov, Belarus.
Sears scored both goals in the 2-0 over Poland in the first game on Monday, while the team have yet to concede thanks in part to Irons centre back Tomkins.
Brian Eastick's side finish their campaign against mini-tournament hosts Belarus in Minsk on Saturday.
They need just a point to top the group and secure their place in the eight-team finals tournament in the Czech Republic in July.
