PLANS to convert a 130-year-old church into a nursery have been given the go-ahead.
Paul Samouelle bought the Cambridge Park Methodist Church in Wanstead, in April and submitted plans to replace the roof and make minor external changes.
Despite objections from the Conservation Advisory Panel the new roof tiles would be visually detrimental to the conservation area, councillors agreed on Wednesday to approve the plans.
Mr Samouelle said: "It's all good and we are making good headway with the nursery."
The nursery should be open for business by the end of January.
Mr Samouelle added: "It will be finished when it's finished. I'm not going to stress over it."
