A GRANDMOTHER who has enjoyed a glittering career dancing on stage and TV has launched a fitness class specially designed for the older generation.
Jackie Jensen, 68, of Loughton, was part of a troupe that performed on Top of the Pops, toured with singers including Lulu and danced in the film of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
The Brooklyn Avenue resident was also a member of dance group Young Generation and her TV performances included shows with Rolf Harris, Vera Lynn and Ronnie Corbett.
Since retiring from the stage, Ms Jensen has taken up teaching, leading a series of popular fitness classes in Loughton.
Her latest Zumba Gold class aims to help the elderly and unfit enjoy a slower version of the dance craze, with easy-to-follow moves to Latin music.
Ms Jensen said: "I have danced all my life and I still love dancing - I think it makes you happy.
"The class is designed for the older active adult and people who are not used to exercise. It's much slower than basic Zumba.
"It's going down really well."
The new class takes place from 11.30am to 12.30pm on Mondays at the Loughton Club in Station Road. For information about joining, call 07931 167886.
