STREETS in Leyton and Walthamstow were brought to a standstill this morning for the funeral procession of a doctor and her five children who tragically died in a house fire.
Dr Sabah Usmani and her three sons and two daughters were killed following the blaze at their home in Harlow, Essex, on Monday October 15.
The procession began at Lea Bridge Road Mosque in Leyton.
A spokesman said it was the only facility in the region which was equipped to prepare such a large number of bodies for a Muslim burial at the same time.
Dozens of people gathered outside the mosque to pay their respects.
The procession left Leyton at around 11am and travelled for a service at the Harlow Islamic Centre, led by the father of the family Dr Abdul Shakoor, who survived the blaze.
There will be a private burial at Parndon Wood Cemetery in Essex this afternoon.
An investigation is currently underway into the cause of the fire.
