A BOGUS group of young people are still going door-to-door in the borough pretending to be raising money for the Walthamstow YMCA, the organisation has said.
It issued a warning in September about crooks selling household items by falsely claiming to be collecting for a 'Youth Opportunity Scheme'.
The YMCA has been trying to spread awareness about the scam ever since but said it has received reports from residents that the group are continuing to operate.
Timothy Pain, CEO of Forest YMCA, said: “It is shameful that these people are continuing to use our name to deceive members of the public.
"Although Forest YMCA is not responsible, we apologise if any members of the public have been upset by these scammers".
A spokesman added: "If you would like to support Forest YMCA, through our official channel, and the work we do for countless young homeless people then please visit our website www.forestymca.org.uk/support-us".
