A CAMPAIGN group is inviting people to a meeting to discuss how best to protect green spaces in the future. Save Leyton Marsh is inviting anyone from Waltham Forest or Hackney concerned over the future of public land after the government built temporary basketball courts on Leyton Marsh prior to the Olympic Games. The development went ahead despite campaigners' protests that the land was not allowed to be built on after Waltham Forest Council gave permission after agreeing that London 2012 was an 'exceptional circumstance' which justified building. The meeting at The Mill community centre in Coppermill Lane, Walthamstow, will address issues including wildlife habitat conservation, outdoor sports and physical recreation and is due to take place between 1pm and 4pm on Sunday.
