A FLOOD alert has been put in place for areas around the middle River Roding following heavy rain.
The Environment Agency issued the alert for Abridge, Loughton and Buckhurst Hill yesterday.
A statement released by the agency this morning said river levels remained high and were rising slowly.
It continued: "This could cause some problems with flooding of low lying land but we are not expecting any property flooding at present.
"We will continue to monitor the situation and update this if the situation changes. A dry day with spells of sunshine is expected today, remaining dry overnight."
The agency is expected to release a further update this evening.
