A DECISION on whether to allow the demolition of a building to create new flats and a shop has been deferred.
Chalkwell Holdings asked for permission to knock down 1 to 5 Station Approach near Snaresbrook station and replace it with a new retail unit and flats.
The company has asked for permission for three different uses for the retail unit and the council has asked for more clarification on the plans.
People living nearby have expressed concern that the unit could be used as a take-away after the developer submitted a separate application for use as a fast food outlet.
The building is currently a mix of flats, with a taxi office and a launderette on the ground floor
The new date for the decision has yet to be decided.
The Guardian is awaiting clarification from Redbridge Council.
