TWO consultation events are to be held later this month over plans to demolish garages and replace them with housing.
Waltham Forest Council wants to transfer 11 sites to the East Thames housing association, which it says will use the land to build new affordable homes.
The earmarked land includes sites in Deer Leep Grove, Marien Court in the Avenue and The Ridgeway in Chingford, two garages next to Pentire Road in Hale End Road, Walthamstow, along with Central Avenue and Kings Road in Leytonstone.
Other garages, located outside of the borough, include sites in Cowell Lodge in Wood Lane, Alders Avenue, Armstrong Avenue, and Payzees Gardens in Chingford Lane, all in Woodford Green, and in Argyle Road in Stratford.
The first consultation event is on Friday November 23 in the Community Room of Northwood Tower, Marlowe Road, Walthamstow, between 2pm and 7pm.
The second is on Wednesday November 28 at the Friday Hill TMO Offices at The Chingdale Centre in Chingdale Road, Chingford, between 2pm and 7pm.
The council's cabinet recently approved the disposal of the sites as part of its 'garages strategy'.
