A COUNTER-fraud squad has recovered £1.2 million worth of illegally sublet homes.
Waltham Forest Council's counter-fraud group has since April recovered the 21 social housing properties from residents illegally renting them out - and have identified 20 more.
The team has also secured 35 sanctions for benefit fraud, identified £739k of fraudulent housing and council tax benefit overpayments.
