COUNCIL tax discounts will be abolished in many cases as Waltham Forest Council attempts to maximise its income.
The council previously gave varying discounts on second homes, homes undergoing "major structural works" and substantially unfurnished dwellings, but using its discretionary powers, the authority is now set to get rid of these altogether.
This will increase the number of properties paying council tax to 79,019, compared to 77,901 in 2012/13.
