HUNDREDS of thousands of Olympic tickets were not sold, according to reports.
It is believed around 263,000 tickets for London 2012 events were involved, despite an overall sale of 10.99 million tickets.
A letter sent by the Olympic organising committee Locog to the London Assembly allegedly admits that the unsold tickets included 2,407 seats for athletics in the stadium, 1,047 for swimming, 2,327 for diving and thousands of day passes for the Olympic Park.
A further 55,000 Paralympic tickets were not sold, it is claimed, according to figures sent to the assembly ahead of a meeting with London 2012 chairman Lord Coe and Locog chief Lord Deighton on Wednesday.
The letter is reported to confirm that 76.3 per cent of Olympic tickets and 91 per cent of Paralympic tickets were sold to the UK public, therefore meeting their commitment to sell three-quarters of seats to people within the UK.
The Guardian is awaiting comment from Locog.
