CHILDREN put on a colourful show as they celebrated the festival of Diwali.
The pupils of Avanti Court Primary School in Carlton Drive, Barkingside, performed a special Diwali play in spectacular costumes before being treated to a firework display in the school's grounds.
Visitors also enjoyed tucking into a hill made out of sweetmeats and desserts as they celebrated the festival of light.
The celebration was the first official event at the school which opened in September.
Deputy head, Junaida Bana, said: “The comments we had from parents were overwhelmingly positive and we are very proud.
“There was a real sense of community about the evening.”
The school still has places available in its reception class. To register an interest for your child call 020 8551 9489.
