A £16.9 MILLION contract to expand a Redbridge school has been awarded.
Construction company, Morgan Sindall, will design and build the new structure at Beal High School in Woodford Bridge Road, Clayhall.
The project will allow the school to accommodate an additional 840 pupils and expand from eight forms of entry to 12.
Morgan Sindall and its design partners, DLA Architecture, won the contract to design and construct the building after an extensive eight month consultation with the school and the London Borough of Redbridge.
The new building will comprise general and specialised teaching spaces, a learning resource centre, assembly hall and sports hall and the construction of external hard and soft landscaping.
Work is due to start on the project in January 2013, with the school using temporary buildings to house additional pupils in September 2013 until the new building is completed in July 2014.
Bob Ensch, area director for Morgan Sindall, said: “We are delighted to have been appointed to this exciting development, which will provide much-needed additional space for students at Beal High School.”
