Buxton school situated in the heart of Waltham Forest , dedicates a minuet silence on Friday 9th November 2012 for Poppy day formally known as : Remembrance day or Armistice day which fell on a Sunday this year.
This particular memorial day (11th hour , the 11th month of the 11th day) for Commonwealth countries has became a day noted in calendars to mark the end of the first World War, this day touched hearts as brothers , sisters , fathers , mothers ect who have died in line of duty may not be present but will never be forgotten .
The red poppy has become a familiar symbol of Remembrance day due to the ‘In Flanders Fields ‘ poem , the crimson poppies flourished on the most traitorous battle fields of Flanders ; Poppies as far as the eye can see the bright red Poppies a symbol of the blood shed from soldiers.
Over 75% of pupils supported the Poppy Appeal by donating what they can also wearing a Poppy to show respect to those who are affected not only emotionally but physically as well.
Students of Buxton school astonished as the Remembrance assembly was given which showed the quantity of people that have died in wars , not only soldiers but children have died or are currently suffering due to war ; this caused students to sit and actually take in their surroundings also look at the faults of man kind … of the world , as we are the new generation ,the next world leader questions filled the room will this ever stop ? What can we do to transform this world and put a stop to suffering.
