PUPILS swapped their school uniforms for slippers, dressing gowns and pyjamas to raise funds for Children in Need.

Youngsters at Epping Primary School spent the week penning their own bedtime stories, before sharing their tales with other classes and staging a special assembly on Friday. 

Teachers at the Coronation Hill school also joined in the fun, picking out their best bedwear for the day.

Headteacher Tracy O'Donnell said: "The children had to write a story involving Pudsey bear - some wrote adventures, some wrote mysteries.

"I wanted it not just to be a one-off day. I wanted there to be some learning attached and for it to be meaningful.

"We asked the children to bring in a donation to wear their pyjamas - including me, in my spotty pyjamas.

"The children were very, very excited. There was a great sense of fun."

Pupils of Chipping Ongar Primary School, in Greensted Road, also spent the day in their sleeping gear and baked and sold biscuits to raise extra pounds for the charity.
