Relief after park revamp
In recent years anti-social behaviour has been a major issue that the government has been trying to tackle, one of the places where this issue was evident was in Langthorne park situated in Leytonstone. So much so that since it opened it had become a popular target for gang violence and became an unsafe and unpleasant place for residents to be in.
However, after numerous complaints from residents and with the help of funding; the local council made a unanimous decision and decided to take action. This included revamping the entire park such having new sports equipment, adding a climbing wall and including more colour to attract its younger visitors. Local authorities have also tried to improve its image by making it appeal to families by holding family fun days and firework displays.
Since doing this, it has removed the dangerous connotations once associated with the park and has made a positive impact on the residents who live nearby. A local resident, Joanne Howard said ‘I think the change has been fantastic, I’m very glad that the council listened and have took our views on board’.
It is fair to say, that Langthorne Park has changed drastically as people do not feel the same hostility about walking through the park as they once did; and it has now changed into a wonderful park for all citizens to enjoy.
