A THIEF mounted the pavement in the van he had stolen and drove at police officers as they tried to arrest him.
A red Volkswagen camper van was stolen from outside a home in Woodberry Way, Chingford, on Tuesday.
Police spotted the van in Pole Hill Road with a man sitting in the driver’s seat.
By the time officers reached he vehicle, the suspect had left it but was spotted trying to steal a white Suzuki van nearby.
The driver then mounted the pavement and drove at officers, before driving towards Kings Head Hill.
Police then followed the van but lost track of it in an industrial estate off the A406.
A 27-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident on Thursday.
He has been bailed to return to police on Friday, December 14.
