MEMBERS of a synagogue collected over 200 tins and packets for a hostel for homeless people.
During Mitzvah Day on Sunday, the congregation of Woodford Liberal Synagogue in Malborough Road, South Woodford, joined 25,000 other Jews across the country to donate their time to good causes.
The food was donated to Jason Lee House in York Road, Ilford.
Rabbi Richard Jacobi said: "This was an afternoon that brought together the young and the old as well as those who have much and those who have less, and I hope taught us all about or responsibility towards each other.
"Doing a Mitzvah is a duty and I think today displayed this duty."
