CROWDS of people descended on the Town Hall carrying antiques rescued from dusty attics and bedroom drawers as TV favourite David Dickinson came to town with his ‘Real Deal’ show.
The hit programme gives the public the chance to flog their unwanted antiques to experts, while Dickinson offers helpful advice over their shoulders.
Business was brisk as the dealers doled out the cash at the event last weekend.
One of those lucky enough to come away with money was Pat Albano, 76, from Wanstead who came home with £250 after selling a Victorian brooch.
She said: “I picked up a shoebox of old jewellery for £7 at a boot sale about 15 years ago.
“I never liked that brooch though, it’s a horrible old brass thing, so I just threw it in the drawer.
“I couldn’t believe they gave me so much. I’ve got a one-year-old great grandson and I imagine I’ll be spending a lot of the money on him.”
Footage from the day will air over several episodes, starting with the Christmas special next month.
