MOTORISTS and passengers who litter will be hit with a £100 fine if caught.
Laws around litter changed earlier in the year, giving Redbridge Council the power to hand the fine to the owner of a vehicle if anyone is seen littering from a car.
If the fine is unsuccessfully appealed it can rise to £200.
Prior to the change in law local authorities didn't have the power to hand out fines and instead a £75 fixed penalty notice was given by the police.
