THERE will be no Woodford Festival next year, it was announced last night.

The October event, which has been running for five years, is moving to a biennial schedule with the next festival pencilled in for 2014.

The festival, which this year involved artists, musicians and actors at venues across the area, will also be moving to the summer months.

Organiser Ron Wortley-Millek told councillors at a meeting of the Area Two Committee: “This move will relieve pressure on organisers and finances.

“We are moving the festival to the summer so that the lighter evenings will encourage people to come out later.”
