A MOTHER and child were hit by a car which failed to stop.
It happened in Lea Bridge Road, close to the junction with Eastern Road in Walthamstow, at around 3.30pm this afternoon (Wednesday November 21).
Details are still emerging but police say neither pair suffered serious injuries.
A Met spokesman said the car involved failed to stop at the scene.
There have been no arrests.
Police closed Lea Bridge Road more than an hour and a half between the junctions with Leyton Green Road and Wood Street in Walthamstow while officers investigated.
It has since reopened within the last half hour.
Bus routes including the 20, 56, 230, 257, 357, W12, W15, W16 and W19 were all diverted but are now reportedly running normally.
Further details of what happened are expected to be released by police tomorrow.
It comes just a day after an 11-year-old girl suffered serious head injuries after being hit by a car further down the same road near the junction with Hitcham Road in Leyton.
She is currently fighting for her life in hospital.
According to statistics from Waltham Forest Council Lea Bridge Road is the most dangerous in the borough with the highest number of collisions per year.
