A DEVELOPER who wants to demolish a building has applied for permission to place two temporary cabins on the site.
Chalkwell Holdings, which is based in the Virgin Islands, is seeking approval for the new building to be used as flats and a food outlet in Station Approach, Snaresbrook.
And now the company hopes to relocate the launderette and taxi rank on the site to cabins in an area allocated for parking while the new building is constructed.
The proposal states that this "will allow the business to continue trading during the period, thus protecting employment".
A total of 17 letters were sent to the council by nearby residents objecting to the demolition plans over fears the site will house a late-night takeaway which could attract anti-social behaviour.
A decision on the application was deferred by councillors who asked for further clarification on the proposals last month.
A previous planning application in 2009 to build new flats and offices on the site has since expired.
