Fabrice Muamba says there is a possibility he could play football again if heart specialists give him the all-clear.
The Walthamstow-raised former Bolton midfielder retired in August after suffering a cardiac arrest during a match against Tottenham.
Speaking to the BBC, he said: "Maybe in two years, if I go for a check-up and my heart rhythm comes back to normality, we'll see if anyone wants to take me on."
The 24-year-old's heart stopped for 78 minutes during the game at White Hart Lane in March and he was released from hospital less than a month later.
