A WANSTEAD jeweller celebrating 25 years of trading on the High Street is hoping to strike gold in a national competition.
David Keating, 60, of Keating Jewellers has submitted several rings set with precious stones to the National Association of Goldsmiths Craftsmanship and Design Awards.
He said: “I don’t know if my designs are good enough to win, but I thought I’d give it a shot.”
To celebrate 25 years in Wanstead, Mr Keating is giving away a free pair of silver earrings to anyone who spends more than £25 in his shop before the end of November.
He added: “There have been some hard years keeping the shop open.
"We moved here in the middle of a recession and I think it was even tougher then than it is now.
“Luckily the people of Wanstead have got to know us. I think they trust us, and they’ve been very good to us.”
