THE COUNTY’S air ambulance service has taken delivery of three cutting-edge patient monitors after supporters rallied to raise more than £14,000.
The Essex and Herts Air Ambulance Trust (EHAAT) launched an appeal this summer to raise funds for machines, which monitor patients’ well being en route to hospital.
The charity has now been able to purchase three Zoll X Series monitors, which can be used in all medical and trauma cases to help patients of all ages.
Clinical lead Dr Gareth Grier said: “The monitor allows us to continue to safely provide life-saving treatments for the patients of Essex and Herts at the roadside such as the delivery of an anaesthetic, something normally only available in hospital.
“We undertake treatments for the most critically injured of patients as soon as possible after an accident or severe illness, wherever this occurs.”
- The Essex Air Ambulance costs £250,000 per month to run and relies on public donations to keep flying. For more information, visit www.ehaat.uk.com.
