THE founder of a music event which is enjoyed by thousands of people each year has been granted funding from councillors.
Gill James of the Aldersbrook Family Association has organised Music in Wanstead Park for the last 13 years.
The event is organised entirely by volunteers and relies on donations and funding to put on the event each year.
Speaking last night at the Area One Committee meeting Mrs James said: "Last year we made a loss because all our money comes from on the gate and it rained all day, meaning we were down £2,000.
"We are hoping that it won't rain this year and we will be able to cover costs."
Councillors agreed to contribute £1,500 from their budget, which is £500 more than last year.
The event, which started as a one off gig to celebrate the millenium in 2000, will enter into its 14th year next summer.
