ARMED police swooped on a car and arrested its driver after finding a gun.
The 31-year-old's black BMW was pulled over in Billet Road, Walthamstow, just after 6pm last night (Tuesday November 27).
The Met says the man tried to run away and claims officers saw him throw away a black sock.
When officers investigated they found it contained a loaded handgun with six rounds of ammunition, a spokesman said.
The man was arrested for firearms offences and remains in custody.
A police spokesman said it was the result of a pro-active operation by the Met's Trident team.
Just hours later Trident officers seized another gun in Enfield.
Trident investigating officer Detective Inspector Steve Meechan said: "This was a great example of the proactive work Trident carries out to tackle gun crime.
"Two dangerous weapons have been removed from the streets."
