SAINT Nick will be doing the rounds next week to bring Christmas cheer to Debden's doorsteps.

Working with community groups, churches and schools, Loughton Town Council has called in a favour from Santa - who will be touring the town's streets in a decorated horse-drawn carriage on on Wednesday December 5.

Residents are invited to follow the parade, join in carols or simply wave from their doors.

Father Christmas will be collecting for the Silkworth Trust Food Bank, based in Langston Road, and the Chigwell Riding Trust for Special Needs.

If this pilot project is well received, the council plans to roll it out across the town next year.

Santa's route will begin and end in Vere Road, taking in Willingale Road, The Broadway, Burney Drive and Jessel Drive among others en route.
